My SxSW Wish List for 2012
The one regret I had from attending SxSW was that I didn’t plan out the panels that I wanted to watch. I was more concerned about finishing my presentation that was going out and enjoying myself. My plan for SxSW if I get accepted to present this year is to have my presentation completely done before going to Austin and catch these following panels:
Fandom Requests:
- Digital Debauchery with Anthony Bourdain: I’m a huge fan of Anthony Bourdain’s work & “No Reservations.” Anthony is the anti-travel show host and always seems to have a weird take on traveling. Therefore, hearing the Zero Point Zero crew talk about creating content and working in social media should be equally as weird.
- Blogging is Dead – 2012 Edition: Robert Scoble poses the question “Is blogging the casualty? What about blog commenting?” and I curious to hear the answer to this.
- Net Smarts: Essential Skills for Thriving Online: Howard Rheingold inspired me and was responsible for part of my theoretical framework for my dissertation.
Companies:
Interesting Writers:
- How to Be Yourself When Everyone Else is Faking It: Liz Henry caught my attention with this one
- Honey, we shrunk the economy: Jeff Jarvis has been vocal and passionate about many issues.
- Get Excited and Make Things with Science: Ariel Waldman has crossed my research path at least a dozen times.
- Open-Source Culture and the Cult of Hatsune Miku: Alex Leavitt is another researcher whose name I’ve come across over the last couple of years. I would be interesting to hear him speak.
Of course, self-promotion:
I know I’m forgetting quite a few and I will update this post as I find more panels that I want to attend. But I want to find out, which ones should I go to?
